Viktor in London

about this project

Hi, I’m Victor.

I moved to London recently, and one of the things I’ve been really interested in is figuring out where to live and what actually makes a good neighbourhood in London.

For me, it’s important to live somewhere with great coffee, good restaurants and places to eat nearby, a nice environment, good connectivity, and, of course, somewhere that feels safe.

So I built this little project.

It helps you explore different areas and understand which ones might be good places to live.

All the data is curated, quality-controlled, and comes from trusted sources — you can read exactly how every layer is built on the methodology page.

For coffee, I use data from Proper Coffee. For crime and safety, I use official UK police data (via the London Datastore and data.police.uk). I also map places that I personally see as good signs of a nice neighbourhood — Waitrose, GAIL’s, Whole Foods, and a few others.

The project only covers Zones 1 and 2, simply because that’s where I’m interested in living.

If your idea of a good place to live is similar to mine — central, a little upscale, close to great places, well connected, and safe — I think you might find this project useful.

Feel free to use it and share it with anyone.

The project is open source and released under the MIT licence, so you’re also free to check out the code, copy it, change it, or use it for your own project.

If you want to get in touch, you can find me on my website, my Telegram channel, LinkedIn, or Instagram. And if you spot a problem or have an idea, feel free to open an issue on GitHub.

With love,
Victor
